Jameson Kavel is a nonprofit and sports law attorney whose practice focuses on advising universities and university-affiliated foundations, including athletic booster clubs, athletic multimedia rights foundations, and NIL collectives. She counsels these entities on matters at the intersection of education, philanthropy, and collegiate athletics, with experience spanning licensing, sponsorships, multimedia rights, NIL compliance, and nonprofit governance.
She graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. In addition to her J.D., she holds a Masters in Management Studies from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor’s Degree from Duke University.
Jameson brings a unique perspective to her practice informed by her own background as a collegiate athlete. While at Duke, she was a member of the Varsity Softball Team and earned numerous honors, including ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, NFCA All-American, a Top 25 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, four-time Duke MVP, and selection to the ACC Honor Roll in each year of competition.
Drawing on her legal training, business education, and experience competing at the highest levels of collegiate athletics, Jameson helps institutions and their affiliated foundations navigate complex governance, compliance, and commercial issues while advancing both their academic and athletic missions.
